Access Israel Participates in Tel Aviv Conference on Impact of October 7th on Youth

Category: Access Israel News

On June 24, Access Israel attended a conference organized by the Tel Aviv Municipality. The event aimed to map out and develop new initiatives for the youth of Tel Aviv in light of the effects of October 7th and the ongoing Iron Swords war since then.

The conference brought together experts, representatives from the Tel Aviv Municipality, cultural and social services, and local youth. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including economic, emotional, employment, social, and community issues, to explore suggested solutions and initiatives as a result to the current situation.

Merav Brumer, Access Israel’s Project Manager and Head of the “Back to Life” program, represented the organization. She emphasized the struggles faced by People With Disabilities, many of which are invisible, and emphazised the importance of inclusive practices in culture, leisure, and community activities.

Merav also presented tools available to assist People With Disabilities, such as the Purple Vest application, developed by Code for Israel for Access Israel, to connect volunteers with People With Disabilities during emergencies, and the “Back to Life” program, which supports individuals who became disabled due to the war, in resuming their normal lives.

We extend our gratitude to the Tel Aviv Municipality for their kind invitation, for highlighting the current challenges, for providing a platform to share our initiatives, and for raising awareness about the struggles faced by People With Disabilities during times of emergencies.
