On 19.1.25, the “Purple Vest” delegation from Access Israel embarked on an exciting journey to Uganda,
supported and encouraged by the Seneca Trust from England. The mission was to conduct training on emergency assistance for people with disabilities for humanitarian teams at the Bidi bidi Refugee Camp—one of the largest refugee camps in the world.
Participants underwent a comprehensive training day, during which they learned about the lives of people with disabilities, met individuals with disabilities who shared their personal experiences, gained insights into the challenges faced by people with disabilities during emergencies, engaged in hands-on experiences simulating various disabilities and emergency evacuations, and participated in workshops for creating personal evacuation plans for people with disabilities in the camp.
At the end of the training, participants proudly received a certificate of participation in the Purple Vest program. They expressed deep appreciation for the knowledge gained, the insights they took with them, and the privilege of learning and being exposed to these critical topics.
After the training day, the Purple Vest team toured the refugee camp, where they witnessed and learned about life in the camp.
This meaningful visit, organized in collaboration with the local Tunaweza Foundation
, would not have been possible without the ongoing support of the Seneca Trust for the global Purple Vest initiative, as well as additional partners and supporters, including Prism the Gift Fund and
