The 3rd International Webinar organized by access Israel in partnership with the Zero Project and other important global accessibility leaders took place on the 15th of July with accessibility experts from all over the world
Over 250 people from over 50 countries registered to Access Israel’s 3rd International Webinar. The webinar focused on ensuring accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities and the elderly during and post COVID-19.
We had the honor that the following speakers participated, Victor Calise, the Commissioner of the New York City office for People with Disabilities that moderated the webinar together with Michal Rimon, the CEO of Access Israel.
Israel was represented by Gaby Admon-Rick, from Israel ’ s Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities, who shared the great initiatives created in Israel.
From Austria, Andreas Reinalter from the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs spoke and shared the amazing work that Austria is doing during this crisis.
María Ximena Rivas Asenjo, National Director of the National Disability Service (SENADIS) if Chile spoke and talked about their important work and how they are trying to ensure accessibility during this challenging time.
Further, Leopoldine Nakashole from the Department of Arts, Culture and Education in Namibia spoke about her work and their efforts in ensuring accessibility in the education system despite the lack of technological infrastructure in place.
Amanda Gibberd from the South African Department of Transport talked about their projects and the current COVID-19 situation.
It was very interesting to hear how COVID-19 affects people with disabilities all over the world and what initiatives are created to overcome the challenges. The webinar showed that COVID-19 has in a way brought us all closer and we can learn from each other’s initiatives to solve the accessibility issues in our society.
The webinar was accessible for all as it provided sign language interpretation and live captioning.
